Foolish Action Exhibition Statement
Most of the time, we strive to align ourselves with societal expectations or fit into established collective frameworks. Yet deep within each of us, there is often a quiet stirring—an impulsive urge waiting, itching to break free…
In this vast social landscape, there are always those who differ from the majority. They choose not to conform, not to blend in, becoming distinct presences within the crowd. Like insects writhing restlessly among the masses, they seem compelled to act. Because of their “rebellion,” their divergence—perhaps tinged with a kind of foolishness—they are often seen by others as engaging in absurd behavior.
Whether it is the stirring within the crowd or the seemingly 「Foolish Action」 themselves, this atmosphere of subtle agitation—the twitch of impulse—lurks quietly around us in everyday life. It stems from a desire to live and act in accordance with one’s own rhythm and consciousness, rather than blindly following the current of society. Through personal observations of the social world and those who exhibit similar tendencies, the artist draws inspiration and translates these experiences into a unique visual vocabulary.
Tiny insects blend and coexist with surreal plant landscapes, constructing scenes that represent the hidden stirrings beneath collective society. These works also reflect the artist’s inner sense of solitude. The images may be imagined, yet they ring undeniably true.
